Rock climbing

Introduction

Whichever direction you look out from Yangshuo town you will see mountains. Specifically karst mountains, and that means limestone. Limestone means great climbing!

Rock-climbing was introduced to Yangshuo back in the 1990's. The first climbs were made on Moon Hill, a famous local site.

All sorts arrive In Yangshuo to climb these days. Many experienced climbers come in search of new routes, perhaps even to gain some experience of instructing at one of the many schools. There are also large numbers of tourists who want to try - both foreign and domestic.

Friendly advice for the beginner

If you don't know much about climbing then just take stock before commiting to any one provider. Rock-climbing done properly is a relatively safe sport. Done badly it is potentially life-threatening. There are many providers in town and they vary in their experience and qualifications.

Ask about training and experience. Ask to see testimonials from previous customers. Look to see which providers are busy. Ask around town. Most locals will have an opinion on who is good and who to avoid.

Don't forget to check out the equipment. Does it look well-maintained? How is it stored? Ropes should be especially well protected.

If you can't decide then feel free to pop into our office and ask for advice.

On the day, listen carefully to all instructions. You should then be able to relax and enjoy a great experience. You may even get hooked and continue back home.

From the minute of contacting Faye from her website she provided the best service. we lined up the itinerary and paid the deposit by PayPal, which was very easy. I couln't recommend Yangshuo Expat more! The time we spent seeing China was so memorable. The locations we visited were all great and nothing was ever a problem. I am going to recommend to everyone I know.

We had the opportunity to send three days in Yangshuo. During two of these days we made a tour through the countryside: one per bicycle and bamboo raft, the other by motorbike. Lisa showed us many nice places, nice views [...] it has given us a nice impression of the area and a very pleasant memory of our trip to Guilin/Yangshuo.
